Bowel perforation

A young boy swallowed 21 Monopoly game pieces (houses, hotels, thimble, racecar, iron, top hat, and shoe) to prevent his older brother from playing. The case is initially managed conservatively with tracking via X-rays and stool examination, but the patient develops a perforation requiring emergency surgical intervention.

Also known as: Breast cancer

A transgender woman scheduled for sexual reassignment surgery is diagnosed with breast cancer via needle aspiration, likely caused by hormone therapy. The diagnosis forces a difficult decision: stop hormones and cancel the surgery to treat the cancer (reversing feminization), or proceed with surgery and risk cancer progression.

Grey's Anatomy — S03E07Patient: Donna Gibson (Daniel)

Also known as: Broken arm

A heavily pregnant woman slipped and fell in the shower, sustaining a forearm fracture. She initially refuses pain medication to protect her baby. The injury requires realignment using gravity traction before casting.

Grey's Anatomy — S03E07Patient: Jamie Carr

Also known as: Stillbirth

The same pregnant patient who fractured her arm is discovered to have a deceased fetus at eight months gestation. The baby was healthy the day before but stopped moving after the fall. The case deeply affects Meredith, who must deliver the devastating news to the happy couple and then assist with delivery of the stillborn infant.
