Also known as: Heart attack
Dr. Bailey presents to Seattle Presbyterian's ER with symptoms of a heart attack (nausea, heartburn, chest discomfort) but is initially dismissed by staff who attribute her symptoms to anxiety/stress. After hours of advocating for herself, elevated ST segments are finally detected on EKG, revealing an MI with LAD blockage. She undergoes emergent cardiac catheterization with stenting, but the stent fails and she requires emergency CABG via keyhole procedure.
Also known as: Blood clot in lung
Morgan, a motorcycle accident patient with a broken femur, throws a clot while in the ER. She goes into V-fib and codes, requiring defibrillation. Dr. Bailey assists with the code and successfully resuscitates her.
Also known as: Broken thigh bone
Morgan is admitted with a broken femur and road rash from a high-speed motorcycle accident. This injury leads to her developing a pulmonary embolism.
Also known as: OCD Harm (violent obsessions)
Dr. Bailey's pre-existing OCD is referenced throughout the episode as ER staff wrongly attribute her cardiac symptoms to psychiatric causes. She takes anti-depressants to manage her OCD and explicitly states it is part of her story but not her defining feature.
