Professional cyclist presents with respiratory arrest, progressive muscle weakness, and difficulty swallowing. Initially misdiagnosed as drug-related complications from blood doping, ultimately revealed to be myasthenia gravis caused by an underlying thymoma.

Tumor on the thymus gland discovered in the patient's neck, which is the root cause of both his pure red cell aplasia and myasthenia gravis. Requires surgical removal as definitive treatment.

Chronic condition where the patient's body stops producing red blood cells, manifesting with severe anemia. Initially mistaken for acute drug-induced PRCA from EPO use, but revealed to be chronic PRCA secondary to thymoma. Patient had been unknowingly treating it with blood doping transfusions.
