Cox bets $20 the patient will die, but the surgery is successful.
A patient that Dr. Turk operated on dies from surgical complications. Turk attends the funeral but is unable to remember the patient's name, causing tension with the family. Dr. Wen is later shown delivering news of another patient's death to family members, illustrating the emotional toll of patient deaths on medical staff.
