Pregnant patient at five months gestation presents with severe shortness of breath and hypoxemia. Diagnosed with post-viral myocarditis (heart damage from recent flu) causing heart failure. Her heart cannot support both her and the baby. Despite placing her on ECMO to buy time, she suffers a hemorrhagic stroke and dies, along with the baby.
